Exhausted

Emma likes to hang off the side of her stroller and reach for the wheel or anything else she can get her hands on (yes, she is buckled in)- but after a while as I was pushing the stroller through the store I realized Emma wasn't really moving/touching anything at all and I walked around the front of the stroller to find her passed out cold. I love that she can fall asleep anywhere- hope this continues for a long long time!!!!!

Emma's New Playroom

Now that she is cruising around nicely, we decided she really needed a place to call her own. Padded for protection and filled with her toys, this little girl is as happy as can be. (please ignore the two-toned walls, I haven't quite finished painting yet)

I even gave Matti his very own pillow in the corner as he is NOT allowed on the playmat. We are working on learning boundaries.......it is really testing my patience. Matti brings over his tennis ball and climbs all over me to play with him, as Emma is climbing all over me to try to play with Matti's ball. I think Emma's first words are going to be "Matti, OFF"

It's Tough Being Tiny!
Watch this sequence of pictures as Emma tries to get her toy out of the toybox.

completely airborne here....

Our New Wheels!

Felix's car was getting to be in pretty bad shape, and my 2-door cavalier, although do-able, was not exactly ideal as a family car. So we decided to trade in Felix's car, buy a minivan for me & Emma, and Felix is now driving my....tiny, 2 door car.
Felix has always wanted to own a minivan- I never really had an opinion one way or the other, but let me just say....
THIS CAR IS AMAZING!!!!
Keep in mind, I was driving a 2-door stick shift car with manual windows and locks, a broken stereo, and trying to haul my infant child in and out of her carseat in the back seat. This van is absolutely a dream. I can put Emma in her seat with no effort at all, she no longer has to suffer listening to my singing as we can now listen to her fun music and CDs in the car, I don't have to worry about where to put groceries if I have the stroller in the trunk, or making sure there is enough room on one side of the car when parking so I can open my door wide enough to get Emma out, the tinted windows means no more having to re-suction the sun shade so Emma isn't blinded by the sun coming through the back window, and I can unlock/lock the car from a few feet away....oh the list goes on and on. Perhaps not the coolest looking car on the street, but one word sums it up for me, amazing. Absolutely amazing!

Emma is absolutely thrilled with all her new room in the car- look at that smile!!! However, I have noticed that the sound of the door sliding shut scares her a bit and she cries when we have to close the door, but I'm sure she will get used to that soon :)

Felix's favorite part... his very own DVD player in the car.

We were lucky enough to find an amazing deal on this car, and thank you to Grandma Mercado for helping to make this happen- we all really, really appreciate it!

8 Months

We have ourselves one happy little baby.

She likes to grab her hair, especially with food filled fingers, so in a rush I threw a headband on her to hold her crazy hair back. That hair really has a mind of its own!

Yesterday Emma and I spent ALL DAY in Cambridge watching water polo. We left the house at 9am and did not return until close to 6pm. It was fun, cold, and exhausting. My friend Alison met us at the pool for the first game, which was fun to catch up and play a bit. Then we met up with friends in Harvard Sq. at Border Cafe to enjoy a nice lunch, and literally within seconds after we took this picture and I was walking back towards the pool, Emma's eyes were closed for a nap. Little trooper can't seem to fall asleep during all the action- doesn't want to miss a thing!

I really like the convenience of carrying her around on me, but she is almost getting to be too big for this carrier. I'm trying to decide if I should get another one that will accommodate up to 40lbs- but I have this gut feeling that our little busy body will want to be walking everywhere we go once she learns how.....

Cabin Fever

Going for a simple walk outside isn't as easy as it used to be, but we HAD to get out today, and......after about 15 minutes of bundling up we were ready to hit the road.

Still awake and sitting up, ready for the ride.

She must have been so cozy, she passed out within minutes. It must be nice to be strolled through town all bundled up and comfortable!

Playtime!

Are you sure this jacket goes with the outfit?

While Emma was enjoying some lunch....

Matti felt neglected and decided to take it out on Curious George. So sad.

Our Inchworm!

Our little inchworm! This is Emmas version of crawling for right now. She has been doing this for a while and has recently started using it more frequently.

This evening, I had her upstairs in her bedroom with the door open while I was getting her bath ready. I looked out the bathroom door to find her "inching" her way towards me. She was halfway out her doorway (which is right around the corner from the stairs). My heart jumped! But she had the biggest grin on her face- she was so proud of herself. She then grabbed a handful of the carpet (it has been pilling up since it is brand new and I need to vaccum more often) and put it in her mouth. I couldnt find the piece so I figured she never actually got it into her mouth. After a 20 minute bath, while putting on her pj's I noticed her chewing something... and sure enough, it was the piece of carpet that she had been storing away inside her cheek. I had to go in there with my finger and get it out.

ohhhhhh.... the perks of being a new mom!

Welcome Home Little Lady!

Home, Sweet Home.

Emma doesn't mind the snow. She is just as happy sitting inside to play.

Especially when she can enjoy her mac & cheese- by the fistfull!

She is really working on crawling. Especially to take away Matti's toys- she LOVES Matti's toys.
Going in for the steal.....
