I Did It!

Ahhhhhh...... today. What a day! (sorry, no pictures this post....more to come soon!!)

I was so excited for today. Emma's first mommy & me dance class at the YMCA. Although it wasn't exactly what I had pictured after remembering all the fun classes I took as a child, we had a blast together!

This was a very small class, 2 other girls, to be exact, and I didn't even dress Emma in a leotard and ballet shoes. Nope. She walked into the room wearing khaki shorts and a pink t-shirt as I followed closely behind, sweaty with frizzy hair stuck to my face, bumping the stroller into every doorway and corner as I maneuvered all 3 of us into the dance studio 5 minutes after the start of the class. But we made it just in time.

Emma had a smile on her face the ENTIRE 40 minutes! Her big brown eyes were as wide as could be and her crazy front teeth were peeking out from her huge grin as she danced around the room, flapping her arms up and down and STARING at herself in the mirror every chance she could. (I know, I know....apple doesn't fall far from the tree)

She followed directions, danced and stretched, and at times....took off chasing the other 2 girls who decided to just run around the room in circles....

Sorry Felix.....this little Princess of yours is DEFINITELY taking dance lessons. And probably at a real dance studio next time!

But the day kept getting better! I decided to venture out all alone with my two little munchkins after dance class. We stopped at BB&B, Levi in the front of the cart and Emma in the back. I then went to Target, did a quick nursing in the parking lot, threw both kids in the stroller, and I was actually able to browse the aisles a bit while Emma ate a lunchables I grabbed out of the fridge section there. I was about to head home but made a quick detour to Borders book store.

It was in Borders that Emma decided we should play "chase". Or......"peek-a-goo, I see you". I had Levi strapped to me, diaper bag on my shoulder, and was trying to get Emma to walk with me to the children's section. As soon as I could "catch" her and grab her hand, she would lie on the floor, refusing to walk. She is one lucky girl, because I was about to lose my cool and simply drag her down the aisle (which probably would have just made her laugh even more)....but a man came around the corner and I thought it would be in poor taste to drag my child on the floor.

We finally made it to the kids section, Emma partied with all the books, I nursed Levi, and then all 3 of us enjoyed reading books together as Levi was lying on the floor on a blanket and Emma & I read books to him, sipping on our afternoon drinks.

By the time we got home, I had 2 cranky children who were ready for a nap. And I knew....this is it. I CAN DO IT! So up the steps we went.....all 3 of us.....and I set a screaming Levi down in a bouncy seat while I changed Emma's diaper. Then we all sat on the couch in Levi's room, read books and sang songs while Levi nursed some more. After which, I put a calm and sleepy Levi back in the bouncy seat, picked up Emma, put her in her crib....and TAH DAH......she went right down for a nap!!!! Miracles do happen my friend, miracles do happen! And each & every day I learn that I can do this by myself (when Felix is working), and I feel so very proud!
