Felix had to leave at 6:30am, so at 8am I went upstairs to get Emma from her crib. She had a dried bloody nose which I assumed was from the dry air, so I cleaned it up and quickly got her dressed and rushed out of the house to make it to the gym in time for my morning class...
......which, by the way, has been TORTURE! After 3 months of doing nothing due to morning sickness, my body is not thrilled to be going back to my normal routine. And Emma is having a little bit of trouble saying goodbye to me when I leave her in the gym nursery.
Luckily, Emma had her 18mo (i know, we are late) check-up so I had to leave class halfway through, freshen up in the locker room and dart to the doctors office. Emma did great! She was excited to see what the doctor was going to find in her ears (dad had been pulling all sorts of toys out of her ears while we were in FL). She played and giggled with the doc, the doc confirmed my assumption about her bloody nose this morning, and when it came time for her shot, she cried for about 3 seconds and then was very eager to get dressed and run around the waiting room. Good job Emma!
After that, we headed to Target to check out a bookshelf I wanted, but realized I cannot fit it in my car alone, so we decided to have hot dogs there for lunch instead and leave the bookshelf for Felix to pick up later. I felt bad for not having a healthy lunch- figured we could make up for it at dinner.
We came home, and as I was putting her in the crib to nap... I found this:
Dried blood all over her sheets! I guess it was covered up by all her teddy bears in the morning so I didn't see it.
Even on her blankies! I didn't have time to wash her sheets and I couldn't find the spare, so she napped in there again. It was dry...I figured it was ok.
During her nap, I exhausted myself as I am STILL trying to get this house organized after all the renovations and our 2 month trip. After her nap we left to go meet some friends at Gymboree for open play, once we got there I realized my friends couldn't make it- but Emma & I still made the best of it. (We did have to pay $10 to get in- which I wouldnt normally do to go somewhere alone, but hey, we had fun!).
Now, leaving Gymboree at 5:30pm- I am exhausted, but had to run to the grocery store to get a few things incase we got snowed in the next day. We stopped at McDonalds to get her dinner on the way to the store. So much for my healthy plans. At this point, I felt all out guilty feeding her crap all day.
At the store, she did, what I call, "very bad listening"! Refusing to sit in the front of the cart she wanted to sit in the back, like her cousin Ava does at Costco. Fine with me- until she starts standing, leaning over the edge and saying "boo boos" (since I told her if she didn't sit down she would get boo boos). THEN came her mocking me as I would put items in the cart and say "no touching"....of course, she puts her hand on them, looks at me and says 'no touching'. UGHHHH. After which, she found it fun to step on the boxes of perogies. I told her I was going to count to 3 and she needs to sit on her tushie... "one.... two...." and with great joy and excitement, she yells "THREE!!!!" and puts her arms up to say horray! But - still wouldn't sit down. I was finally successful sticking her in the front seat of the cart, only to realize the belt was broken and she kept standing up IN THERE!!!! I ended up having to hold her as I pushed the cart through the store. I kept my patience though. Meanwhile, all I could think about was - 'how the heck am I going to do this with 2 kids???'!
Once we got home, I used the bathroom upstairs and realized the toilet wouldn't stop running after I flushed it. Oh well- I would deal with it after I put her to bed. So I quickly switched out her sheets, cleaned up her room, and as I was about to lie her on the changing table to put on her PJ's.... a stink bug comes crawling out from the window and is walking over the mobile above her.
At this point, I had had ENOUGH! I can't stand bugs, and these are especially gross. So I unfortunately let out a curse word, which thankfully, she did NOT repeat! I pulled her out of her room, and stood there watching the bug. Emma quietly sat down near my feet clutching her Elmo doll as we stood there waiting for Felix to get home.
Finally I went downstairs and called Felix to make sure he was coming home within a few minutes. Then, I cried from pure exhaustion (and pregnancy hormones I'm sure). My big man came to the rescue, and fixed the toilet and killed the bug as soon as he got home. We put Emma to bed and came downstairs to start dinner.
I scrubbed the sheets to treat the blood stains before washing them, Felix started the wash- not realizing that I had stuck my camera in the laundry basket when we carried it downstairs... and sure enough, into the wash it went!
So- no more camera for us!
And that, my friends, is the story of my awesome day.
